What Air Fryer I Use:
I cooked these in my air fryer because I think that method gives the chicken nuggets the perfect amount of crispiness. In comparison to baking, which doesn’t always give them the best crisp on the outside. I wanted these to be as close as possible to a traditional chicken nugget. The air fryer is the best cooking method I have found that achieves that.
I use the Ninja Foodi Oven which has an air fryer option but I’ve used this one before too. The Ninja has a lot more functions besides just an air fryer which is why I enjoy it because I want less appliances taking up space in my kitchen.
Are you a fan of the air fryer method? It took me awhile to get on board but now I am seriously obsessed! I want to make everything in it haha. I have so many ideas in my little recipe notebook of what to make! It’s a game changer if you love crispy or fried food. Add it to your Christmas list 😉
Recipe Tips:
These paleo crispy chicken nuggets are pretty straight forward but here are a couple tips to make it even easier for you. Full recipe posted at the bottom of this blog post.
- Pick shallow bowls to make it easier to dip your nuggets in the different mixtures you’ll use.
- Don’t overcrowd your air fryer with too many chicken nuggets. They won’t cook correctly if you don’t space them out enough.
- Use a spatula to flip them halfway through cooking.
- Store in the fridge and reheat in the oven, toaster oven, or skillet. Microwaving them makes them soggy.
Dipping Sauces:
If you’re anything like me, the whole point of eating chicken nuggets or chicken tenders is to get to the dipping sauce. I have serious ratio problem when it comes to dipping sauces haha. I’m 80% dip, 20% food. The problem with this dipping sauce love- most of the time they’re loaded with sugar, hydrogenated oils, and a lot of other stuff that I don’t love putting in my body on an everyday basis. But here are some of my favorite, healthier alternatives to the traditional stuff.
- Primal Kitchen Foods Unsweetened Ketchup
- Primal Kitchen Foods Unsweetened BBQ Sauce
- Woodstock Foods Organic Ketchup
- Mashed Avocado
- ALDI or Trader Joe’s Salsa
